We are the MakerStudio located at the University of Akron. Come see a few of the services we offer on campus, as well as explore examples of projects and research conducted using 3D printers and other technology offered to students free of charge!
Maria Hawkins started her career at the University of Akron’s Bierce Library in 2014 as a Library Specialist in Access Services, after receiving a master’s degree in Library Science from Kent State University. In 2015 she joined the Reference Department where she further assisted students, staff, and faculty with their research needs. Now, in her recent appointment to the Coordinator of Applied Technology position, she has been given the opportunity to connect and collaborate with departments across campus to directly facilitate the library’s mission of supporting the UA community through research and technology education. Maria has been instrumental in the relocation and renovation of the MakerStudio in Bierce Library where students have the opportunity to design and create multimedia projects, explore equipment and fulfill their creative aspirations.
